The jury has come back with a not guilty verdict on the death of Caylee Marie Anthony which means Casey Anthony will probably be released from jail as early as Thursday. Casey Anthony was found guilty on four counts of lying to a police officer but with the time she has served already waiting for this trial it isn’t likely she will serve anymore for those guilty verdicts.
Is this OJ all over again? Did Casey Anthony get away with murder? That seems to be the general consensus among people outside the courthouse in Florida.
I’m not sure what to make of this. I have been caught up in this trial more than I would like to admit. I was also caught up in the OJ trial and maybe that is why I am not as surprised that the jury found Casey not guilty.
I didn’t think the state made their case, there was just too much reasonable doubt. I don’t doubt that Casey Anthony had something to do with her daughter Caylee’s death but I was not convinced by the state that she murdered her with intent. I suspect her death was an accident, though not in the swimming pool as Jose Baez alleged. And, I doubt George Anthony knew anything about it.
I can’t imagine a parent that would drug their child up and possibly store her in the trunk of the car while out partying, though that seems to be the opinion of what happened.
I suspect we will never know what happened to little Caylee.
Whatever happens, Casey Anthony cannot be charged with the murder of her daughter again. If Casey Anthony were to confess to the murder of her daughter Caylee there is nothing the law could do to her, she would effectively get away with murder because of double jeopardy.
I know nothing about this, but I do remember the OJ trial, and what a farce that was. Sometimes the prosecution just messes up and guilty people do go free, unfortunately.
I can’t believe she wasn’t found guilty of anything but lying. I agree with you that she had something to do with her daughter’s death but she did a great job of hiding it.
I did not pay attention to this being a goat. The publicist did not either.
Karma will out…
This is a strange case. She seemed like a good mother on all the pictures and videos but then she was pictured dancing after the girl’s gone missing. To me she looks like suffering from some kind of mental illness.
I am more surprised to see all the white people upset with the not guilty verdict. With OJ case as I remember everything was 100% on racial line. Heck, I am not black and I am not white.
This family is never going to recover form this and just like OJ we are going hear about a very messed up Casey, in the future, heading back to jail. Guilty or not guilty families just don’t recover from things like these.
I think I caught all of ten minutes of the trial and they were talking about Casey’s mother working at some firm – for which I did not see how that had any relevance to the case, but then I wasn’t following the trial the whole way through (*yawn*). It was all quite confusing if you ask me. I think that the prosecution tried to mire the defense in so much irrelevant mumbo jumbo to get a conviction that it even had the jury confused.
Oh well. Casey has to live with it. And if she is the true sociopath she appears to be, she probably won’t.
I think she got away with murder, like OJ. It’s so unfair to poor Caylee.
CSI makes it look so easy, but the problem was with the physical evidence. There was no way to definitely link Casey to the crime. You can’t send someone to their death without absolute proof of their guilt.
I didnt pay much attention until this week, that being said she seemed like was hiding a whole lot.
So my confusion is, we let her off the hook, and the lesbians lying about having a partner to the military are going to jail? Some country, folks…
Messed up news, and on the same day that Guy Turcotte was found not guilty of killing his kids too.

I was all over the TV today too watching the verdict come in live. And I wasn’t shocked either, because if OJ can get off, anybody can. However, just like OJ, Casey Anthony will get a little too smug about getting away with what she has done (whatever it is), and she’s been arrested for other things before too, so it’s just a matter of time before karma bites her in the butt too.
I agree with you 100%. I live in Florida so wer are inundated with press on this case. I don’t blame the jury or think they’re stupid; they had to consider the evidence they were given, and it wasn’t enough to convince them beyond reasonable doubt. So much of the evidence the state presented was discredited by the defense.
I too have wondered if her death was a neglectful accident, and Casey panicked knowing she’d get in trouble, and covered everything up.
Like you said, we’ll probably never know.
Only Casey Anthony and God know for sure…
For some [like me] CA is the picture of EVIL incarnate, and she will most likely go on to profit from it…For Now.
God Bless Caylee.
More and more people are making it past 100; some are now predicted to live to 150, and then there are some that don’t make it to 3.
It’s a good world, mostly.
And a good life, mostly.
But sometimes not.
I didn’t watch or even keep up with the trial – in fact I hadn’t heard of it until it was well underway. I have no idea about her guilt but it is unfair when the guilty go free.
Where is the justice for Caylee? Will it be like OJ that the search was basically called off and the investigation over. One thing is for certain, she may walk free on Thursday but her life will never be without scrutiny and scorn. Either way, in my opinion, her life may turn as lifeless as her daughters.
I haven’t followed this very closely. If the prosecutors don’t “prove” beyond “reasonable doubt”, the jury really must vote a certain way. And if that baby was murdered, I doubt the mother would ever have another moment of peace if she had a part in it. Now it’s between her and God.
I wonder if Casey Anthony also has the missing glove?
And… I believe reasonable doubt should work BOTH ways.
Blog post to follow.
I watched the closing arguments. The prosecutor’s case was purely circumstantial, no DNA evidence, no fingerprints. I wonder if CA would have been convicted if this case went to trial before DNA evidence existed. I think the prosecutor’s antics during the trial also didn’t help his case. Smirking and making faces while the defense attorney was speaking – absolutely shameless!
So will Caylee’s death get tossed into the cold case file?
Hi Jen! – I haven’t been around in so long. Miss reading your blog, but my kids have been holding me hostage.
I think everyone knows she did it. But, I also think the prosecution was just to damn cocky and annoying. One of the Jurors did come out and say that the jury didn’t think she was “innocent” but the prosecution just didn’t prove their case. They should have given the jury more options than the death penalty.
I didn’t watch any of it or know anything about it until the trial ended. All I can say is, “Duct tape. Over the child’s mouth. No murder. REALLY?!”
You alright out there Sexy Red? Post something so we all know you’re ok, ok?
You’re one of the lights in the darkness, DO NOT GO ‘OUT’.
In that juries mind, the State did not prove its case. That’s the bottom line. I have little doubt that we have heard the last from Ms. Anthony. Like O.J., I’m confident the law will eventually catch up with her.
The story she wove was too elaborate and the evasions too consistent for me to think anything other than she was guilty of killing that little girl. But the evidence was too week to put her on Death Row. It might have been different if they had gone for lesser charges or life without parole.
