There has been a lot in the media lately about how the media has treated Sarah Palin unfairly. That they have been far more critical of her than they have ever been of Barack Obama. This doesn’t surprise me. I knew that whoever John McCain chose as his running mate would be held under a microscope. What has surprised me is the reaction of the liberal feminists.
On many blogs I have read rant after rant about how Sarah Palin left her infant son, with Downs Syndrome no less, just three days after giving birth to go back to work. They have criticized her for being a working mom with five kids. I guess when the feminist movement was talking about women having it all they only meant the ones on the left side of the aisle. I find this incredibly hypocritical.
I blame the feminist movement of the 60’s and 70’s for singlehandedly eroding our society. We have the feminists to thank for our incredibly high divorce rate, our latchkey kids, younger and younger drug use among teens, escalating sexually transmitted diseases, our disenfranchised men, and the Bratz Dolls.
The feminists made a huge mistake when they said that women could have it all. They failed to mention that there would be a cost associated with having it all and that their daughters and sons would have to pay for it. I have not been able to have it all. I have struggled with being a mom and having to work and finding good affordable help with raising my kids. I am divorced and a single mom and no matter how you slice it there is no having it all when you are raising children alone. There is no extra money for extra things or vacations, not that it would matter since there is no one to take those vacations with and if there were there would be no one to watch the kids while gone. But I digress. Feminists threw husbands and children under the bus.
Sarah Palin seems to have managed to have it all or at least find a way to make what she has work. I have no doubt that most of that is due in no small part to her husband Todd. While I would not choose to go back to work three days after giving birth I don’t mind if someone else does. Wasn’t that one of the cornerstones of the feminist movement, choice?
I can understand the liberals going after Sarah Palin for her religious beliefs or her pro-life stance however it still boils down to that of choice. She has the right to be pro-life, she has the right to attend any church she chooses. What I find so disappointing about the liberals is that they believe in freedom to choose but only so long as one chooses their beliefs.
Sarah Palin has proved that teen pregnancy is not due to liberal philosophies, and her sister has done the same for messy divorces.
Stop blaming liberal beliefs for problems across all of society.
You should read this article by Gloria Steinham, it pretty much sums it all up.

While I have several issues with Palin, the ones you listed aren’t what most of us cite as wrong. Here are two of mine: she waited 22 hours to give birth to a child that she knew had disabilities and was a month premature – no responsible mother would ever endanger her child or herself like that; and she threw Bristol under a bus by starting this campaign and then demanding privacy, as she knew her pregnancy would become public and she’d be under a microscope when she should have been protecting her privacy in the first place. Underage pregnancy? Who cares. Working mom? Great! But having 5 kids (5 still being debateable) and governor doesn’t mean you’re automatically a great mother or a feminist.
Thanks for the article I look forward to reading it. If her baby was premature isn’t it better that she waited those 22 hours? I don’t see in your comment how she endangered either her baby or herself.
If she had not accepted the VP slot Bristol would still be pregnant. She already lived a very public life and the children were in the spotlight already. Yes this is a much larger audience but I hardly see where she threw her daughter under the bus. She had a much larger opportunity to show her daughter that a woman can be vice president, possibly even president one day. It would have been a difficult decision but I think she made the right one. She might actually prevent a few teen pregnancies by showing young women that they can actually break through the glass ceiling. I don’t recall seeing anything in the media where she called for privacy. The media did but she didn’t.
To suggest that the 5th baby is really that of her daughter, as the rumors and left wing bloggers have suggested, is irresponsible and shameful.
I do not “hate” Ms. Palin. I just do not trust her. A simple example is her oft repeated claim of telling Washington “Thanks but No Thanks” for the earmark money secured by Republicans Don Young and Ted Stevens. Her statements give the impression that she didn’t take the money when in fact she did. It is a little known fact that every year, at least since 2000, Alaska citizens have received more “earmark” money than any others in the U.S. In fact they have consistantly received about twice the amount as do the citizens from the #2 state on the list.
You talk about liberals as though we are not really Americans…in fact, right now, we are the true Americans. We believe that our country has a duty to provide choices and opportunites to future generations. We are not trying to squelch anyones choice, we stand up for it.
Sarah Palin is nothing new. She represents the old school way of thinking. She’s been in bed with lobbyist for years. She is lying about her record, and padding her resume. Moreover, she is not qualified for the job.
Liberals want to fix the problems that the religous right has heaped on us as a nation. We have had conservative rule for at least eight years. Look what it’s gotten us. An unfounded war, a collapsing economy, and millions of folks being driven into poverty. How is any of that good? But that just what you get from the new republican party.
I am a former rebublican, now independant. I don’t have a problem with fiscal conservatism, and I think some social conservatism is good. But we have swung so far to the right that now the pendulum must return.
Please, just look at the facts. Turn off Fox news, CNN, MSNBC, and go to the candidates web pages. Look at their policies.
Getting our country back to center is too important for any of us to vote based on narrow beliefs.
Look at the reality of what the rebublican party has become, be aware that you’re children will be paying for this parties mistakes. Cast a vote for the right reasons. You’re kids will thank you, and so will mine.
