Bristol Palin is pregnant and all the liberal blogs and media outlets are going nuts. Such hypocrisy! They shout about the conservatives. Hmph! Kids make mistakes. I don’t know what the ratio is for teen pregnancy but I bet just as many liberal teenagers get pregnant as conservative teenagers.
Here is the statement from Todd and Sarah Palin:
“We have been blessed with five wonderful children who we love with all our heart and mean everything to us. Our beautiful daughter Bristol came to us with news that as parents we knew would make her grow up faster than we had ever planned. We’re proud of Bristol’s decision to have her baby and even prouder to become grandparents. As Bristol faces the responsibilities of adulthood, she knows she has our unconditional love and support.”
“Bristol and the young man she will marry are going to realize very quickly the difficulties of raising a child, which is why they will have the love and support of our entire family. We ask the media to respect our daughter and Levi’s privacy as has always been the tradition of children of candidates.”
I am curious that McCain would choose Sarah Palin knowing that her 17 year old daughter was pregnant. I presume they found this out in the vetting process and that Britol didn’t just go to her parents this morning and tell then she was five months pregnant.
I don’t think it reflects much on the Palin’s family values that their daughter got pregnant. Had the story been that Bristol had an abortion then the liberals would be justified in shouting hypocrisy. Though it wouldn’t say anything about Sarah or Todd Palins character just that of their daughter who is free to have a different set of values. That said, this is a perfect example for why birth control should be easy to access for teenagers of all political persuasion, without parental permission.
I’m not sure how you go from a pregnant girl to the need for medical intervention (the pill is still a prescription-based drug) on a minor without the consent of a parent.
YAY!!!!!!!! OBAMA JUST MIGHT WIN! LOOK, I DON’T USUALLY LIKE TO TRASH PEOPLE FOR THEIR MISFIRES IN LIFE, BUT JEEZ! THIS IS THE FATE OF THE WORLD!!!!!!! PALIN: YOUR GOING DOWN.
If a young woman is having sex, probably without the consent of her parents she should be able to see a doctor who can prescribe medication to prevent pregnancy. Which she can get if she knows how to get it. It isn’t the best answer which would be that or teenagers all wait until they are married or at least committed to a long term relationship but it doesnt work out that way.

You take such glee in other’s misfires. how sad
Hateful comments such as are exhibited by our Anonymous liberal friend (they're often anonymous, aren't they?!) is just digging a deeper & deeper hole underneath the Obama Campaign.
I was curious so did a quick blog search of "Palin" and "hypocrisy". To each of the liberal bloggers I posted some variation of the following:
Yes, there's definitely some hypocrisy here but you need to get a mirror to see it.
Put yourself in Sarah Palin's shoes. You strongly advocate abstinence to your children. One of your daughters chooses to not listen to you and gets pregnant. What do you then? If you're true to your (Palin's) convictions then you would encourage her to have the baby. And that's what she's doing and getting married to the father as well.
As for the hypocrisy I mentioned earlier, I trust you're aware that Barack Obama was born to an 18 year-old mother who was not married to the father at the time.
Final question: You seem to have no hesitation to delve into the sex life of Sarah Palin's daughter. Should we thus assume that you're advocating open attacks into Barack & Michele's two adorable daughters? Sure sounds like. That's pretty sick.
I wanted to mention the age of Obama’s mother too but didn’t think it was worth dwelling on. Shit happens and you make the best of it. This child to be may grow up to do great things. It isn’t a horrible thing just a bump in the road at the moment. I do think the attention will pass. It is shocking but really none of our business and it hardly prevents Palin from performing her duties. Though I find it interesting that so many comments hold Palin responsible for the downfall of her family and household. As if her husband had no role in raising the children. What a double edged sword we have set as our example.
Why make the poor kids get married? You know it’s just a political ploy to look right and moral to get votes. This isn’t mainly what happened to her kid right now… it’s about if she can get elected and if she can get McCain elected, and that’s a shame.
I just can’t imagine they knew about this when she was picked as V.P. choice. Wow… do you think she will be dumped, oR will they make this all look like a righteous non-abortion choice? Oh, brother. It’s easier just being more liberal and one’s self and not having to play all those games, and put on a self-righteous code.
JoJo, it probably is easier to be liberal but that isn’t what is best for one’s family or one’s country. Sometimes you have to do what isn’t easy for the greater good. I suppose they could suggest she have an abortion though I can’t imagine why they would except that from what I read that’s what the liberals would do in this situation. I don’t believe it necessarily but that idea is certainly running rampant right now.
Sometimes people make mistakes and they actually face the consequences of those mistakes and take responsibility for them. And then make the best of them. Not very liberal idea I guess but the right thing to do none the less
