Looking for the top rated mascaras for achieving a false lash look? I’ve been on a mascara quest for a few months now, trying to achieve as close to a fake lash look without having to actually use false lashes. Why? Because I have absolutely no talent or skill to put them on, and I know I’m going to be that hot mess that has one of them coming off by noon.
Top Rated Mascaras
Benefit Roller Lash
One of the top rated mascaras out there on many lists! I love this formula because it actually gives my lashes a boost of curl all day long. Also the brush is amazing, it feels like it hooks every lash and helps me achieve a very even coat of product on each lash and is almost impossible to have any clumping happen.
I found it to be buildable – which was great for lazy days when I wanted to go for a more natural look, but in trying to obtain a….lets call it a less than natural look, it’s going to take a few coats.
Benefit Roller Lash sells at Sephora for $12 – $24.
Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes 4-In-1
Another on the lists of top rated mascaras, I received this one in with the Tarte Opening Act Lash Primer and Best in Faux lash extending fibers in one of Sephora’s 500 point kits that were available last fall.
I found that I got a good natural look with this mascara – so not what I wanted. However, it definitely became a top mascara to recommend to friends who were having lash issues. Be it length, brittle lashes, or running mascara, this is a great go to mascara.
I tried the faux lashes that came in this kit and I didn’t feel they added as much as I was hoping for, though they did look more natural than what I experienced using Younique 3-D Lash Mascara.
The other great thing is this made me a believer in lash primer. Always. Use. Primer. Thicker lashes and your mascara will not move no matter the formula.
Both are available at Sephora:
Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes 4-In-1 sells for $21
Tarte Opening Act Primer and a sample of Lights, Camera, Lashes sells for $22
Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara
And just about on every list of top rated mascaras is this one. After reading many reviews online I had to see what was so special about this mascara. I was thrilled to discover that it does indeed live up to it’s name.
I was a little concerned when I pulled out the ultra plush and fluffy brush. I was sure I was going to have major clumps coming my way, especially after using the sleek the brush that comes with the Roller Lash. It gave me the thicker, fake lash look I’m going for, though it was a little clump prone which I solved by removing a little of the excess before application.
This sells at Sephora for $23.
The final winning combo for sky high lashes without the hassle of falsies goes to Tarte Opening Act Primer and Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara!
