It’s Too Cold in St. Paul

It’s cold today, too cold. Like it’s 0 – a big fat ZERO – right now as I type this. It was -12°F when I woke up this morning. I know there’s nothing I can do about the the cold – I live in the frozen tundra, the only thing to do is move and for the life of me I don’t really know why I don’t (yes I do, I have family here), because the summers are way too hot here.  

6 – 12 Inches

In the Twin Cities tomorrow they’re predicting a BIG snowstorm. Currently they’re predicting 6-8 inches. Not a bad January snow storm. Fluffy snow I hope. Easy to shovel snow because my garage door is currently stuck in the down position and I don’t think I can get the snow blower out through the service door. Ope, now they’ve increased the amount to 6-12 inches. That should close the schools in St. Paul and Minneapolis.

If the scrolling taking place under the local news is any indication I’m going to say yes. Thankfully, school closings don’t really effect me much anymore. If anything I look forward to a school closing because it’s less I have to drive. 

People Don’t Know How To Drive in St. Paul

Speaking of driving – if you’re new to the Twin Cities and driving in snow, I have a few tips for you. With regard to parking – don’t block the carriage walks. If you do, then you force everyone else to trudge through the snow. If you do it in the summer you help ruin someone’s hard earned lawn. Don’t do it. While you’re at it, please brush the snow off your car!! Pro Tip – Big SUVs aren’t good at stopping on ice so stay back.

What To Do on a Snow Day

If schools are closed on January 17th, 2020 that doesn’t mean you have to stay cooped up inside. There’s plenty to do in the Twin Cities on a snow day. The Mall of America doesn’t ever close, and it’s warm in there. Grab the kids and have them do a few laps around the mall, then get the a Blizzard from Dairy Queen. Don’t want to be indoors? Go to a sledding hill. I don’t know if the Town and Country Club still allows sledding – but it never stopped us. The best way to go down a hill is on a cafeteria tray – try it, it’s awesome and terrifying.
