I woke up this morning and flipped on the TV which happened to be on CNN. I don’t usually want to watch CNN first thing on a Sunday morning but I was captivated by something John King from State of the Union said right before he went to a commercial. It was a teaser for viewers to stay tuned for the upcoming segment.
I don’t have TiVo so am going off memory. He said something like:
“When we return we’re going to find out where all those jobs are that the government promised us.”
Why are we relying on the government for jobs? When did we turn into a bunch of children looking for our parents to bail us out?
We have to get the government out of our lives, they are making a mess of things and most of the legislators don’t have a clue what it is like to be a regular citizen. They have health care and they have jobs (though what they do for their paycheck and health insurance is questionable). The governments job is to protect us, not from ourselves but from people who would do us harm. The government can not provide us with jobs or health or anything else for that matter. And we have to stop looking to them to provide these things.
We used to be an innovative nation. We used to invent things, we used to revolutionize things, we used to be the nation that every other nation wanted to be like. Now we are just a bunch of pussies whining about not getting our rightful share.
Look what government has done to our educational system. It’s a mess, our children aren’t learning what they should and when they go to school they are often at risk for violence.
What happened to pulling oneself up by their bootstraps? Now when jobs get cut we sit around, collect unemployment for as long as we can and then we try to find another job we hated so that we can get medical and dental insurance and possibly a 401k, oh, and social security.
We have turned into a nation of lemmings who are scared of our own shadow.
We are a smart bunch of people, though you wouldn’t know that the way we have been letting our government spoon feed us for the last couple of decades.
I don’t want the government to tell me what I can and cannot do anymore. I’m tired of being politically correct. We can’t even call a spade a spade without offending someone anymore.
We can’t talk on our cell phones in our cars, we can’t smoke anywhere, we can’t eat trans fats, we can’t spank our kids, we can’t do so many things now that the government is in charge.
But all these laws are good for us. Smoking is bad, trans fats are bad, talking on the cell phone while driving kills people and spanking a child is abuse.
Yes, most of these things are bad but don’t we have the freedom to kill ourselves if we want to?
I like trans fats, I don’t eat them often but they taste pretty damn good. I don’t text while driving but I have made a call or two when going down a stretch of road that is free of ice and snow and has little traffic. At times it has actually kept me from falling asleep. I miss going to a smoke filled bar and hanging out. The bars are empty because of the no smoking policies which means bars are pulling in less money and thus have to let go of employees and raise prices to cover the higher taxes they have to pay. And the smokers just rolled over and let it happen to them.
I have spanked my kids. Not often but I have done it on occasion. Many parents don’t, they prefer to reason with their child. How insane is that? Kids haven’t developed the ability to reason at a young age. I’m not suggesting we get the belt out and leave scars on the kids but parents aren’t in charge of their own kids anymore and it shows in the increased crime rate among juveniles as well as the screaming kids in grocery stores. We have spoiled our kids like the government has spoiled us. How many kids do you know who have cell phones by the age of 12 or even younger? A lot.
We need to stop looking to the government to solve our problems. They can’t, they just create committees which end up costing money which means raising our taxes to justify the fact that they can’t solve our problems.
I’m tired of throwing money at problems, let the private sector bang this out. Stop the bailouts, let the banks fail, let the companies that screw up fall flat. It will be a mess but when the dust clears and people start thinking for themselves again we might be a better nation for it.
Okay, I’m done. Tomorrow I’ll get back to silly stuff.
Oh, and I still haven’t tackled those drawers. The government hasn’t forced me to so why should I bother?
Most Americans are too stupid to be pussies. That’s why they register to vote. And vote. People who vote have no business complaining about the government. They are the government. That’s how this game works.
What a stupid-ass comment and wrongheaded outlook. Now if they voted to give-up, turn-in their guns, then I would agree with you. Voting is a tool not an intellectual attribute. (If you don’t use the tools your given, you can’t beat/change anything. Why the “Founding Fathers” gave us the “Republic” and “2nd Amendment” if we can keep them!)
I agree, America has become a country of entitlement where people expect things they put no effort into obtaining. That’s how the housing problems happened. That’s how credit card debt piled up. Then people expect those debts to just be forgiven. They take no responsibility, it was the bank’s fault for extending the credit to them in the first place (and in some ways it was, but it doesn’t mean those people don’t owe the money). Excellent post, ought to get some interesting comments!

You expressed my thoughts way better than I could. I could talk for days on this subject; you wrapped up the key points in a great blog! Nice job!
(
I agree with a lot of this. The government spends way too much time looking out for our morals and social behavior, and obviously not enough time on making us safer. Why get in a tizzy over somebody making a phone call or smoking a cigarette? I spanked my children on occasion, and I’m sure it was the right thing to do. I worked for 40 years and paid my own way. I don’t buy things I can’t afford. I’ve never collected welfare or unemployment because I just found a way to keep or get a job and I worked. I was a single mother and my kids did not have free lunches. Ain’t no such thing!
A very well thought-out and thought-provoking post. I agree that people need to start taking responsibility for their own lives and their own actions and the consequences of those actions. I have a feeling I’ll be dead long before any positive change ever comes to this once-great nation of ours.

To borrow a phrase…..ditto…ditto….ditto…..ditto…..
Check out http://www.resistnet.com sometime. Because, ya’ know, ya’ can’t bitch is your not participating. But, I guess each one of us bloggers, are, each in their own way.
Dr. Faust: So what are we do to if we don’t vote?
Kristy: We never used to be this way. We used to take pride in working, we saved for things we wanted and Foreclosure and Bankruptcy were things avoided at all costs and if they did happen they were humiliating and shameful.
Sandi: Thanks, I could go on and on as well, however I don’t have the talent to talk of these kinds of things (I hate looking up facts and stuff). It just seems like a no brainer.
Linda: Exactly, there is no free lunch, someone has to pay for it.
Surfie: I hope to be around when the change starts happening. It can’t go on this way for much longer. We will be a third world nation if we don’t turn the tide here soon. We don’t have the money and the money we are printing isn’t worth anything.
Don: I’m no Dittohead but I believe in common sense. If Rush wasn’t such a blow hard he might actually do some good.
Jen: Why do you need me to tell you what to do? 🙂
When we look back at the good ol’ days when we were all self-reliant, etc, etc. it’s probably the 50’s and 60’s that we think about. One of the things that made that time such an economic boom was the massive government public works program that Eisenhower , a Republican, created to build the nation’s highway system. It was also the time of the highest union membership in this country which in turn led to an increase in a strong middle class. This continued pretty well until the 80’s when Reagonomics became the order of the day and corporations rose to have more power than individuals. “Screwed” by Thom Hartmann is a well-written book about the systematic destruction of the middle class by government in bed with corporate America and what we have today is the result.
.-= injaynesworld´s last blog ..injaynesworld it’s "Sunday Recap" time… =-.
Hitler, a nazi give Germany people the most jobs that any leader has ever produced. Also built massive highways all through Germany and made Germany the greatest power it ever has been. does that mean he was a good guy?? No. Don’t play the o hes a republican and that’s why roads were built and that’s why we were strong. That is total bullshit and you no it.
Dr. Faust: Touche! I don’t have the little thing that goes over the e.
Jayne: I haven’t read the book, or heard of it for that matter but it sounds interesting. So let’s stop contributing to these corporations by boycotting them. The problem is we can’t. I have no say over the banks fees that they charge me except to go to another bank which because of the governments regulations they are allowed to charge these outrageous charges. Same goes for health care. I won’t get into it here, it’s way to big and it’s Sunday so I don’t want to sit here all day typing but if we got the Gov out of some of this stuff and let the market decide, as in the buying market, these corps might make a better product, offer a better service and charge a fair price. They won’t as long as the gov is on their side making regulations.
We throw our votes into the wind and expect them to land somewhere near Washington, but how can we expect to take Congress et al seriously when the only “voting power” they heed is lobbyists? The healthcare debacle is only the most recent example of criminal neglect by elected leaders. They’re the pussies.
That last line was PERFECT! I agree with so much of what you say. So much! The place we may differ is, while we have the right to kill ourselves (in my book), we don’t have the right to put others at risk while doing it. And being the self centered species we are, if there isn’t a law stating no to, say, smoke inside public places/talk on the cell phone while driving etc, many of us would keep right on doing it.
And that ‘spanking’ thing? The corporal punishment that was common when I was a kid would put a kid in foster care and a parent behind bars today. No joke.
Love this blog, been reading through some posts thanks to Kristy. Following along…
I think that a great many people feel that all you have said is true and I am hoping that come time for elections that this will be reflected in the vote.
Fabulous post, very well said!
I didn’t even have to read the post – the visual I got from the title kept me laughing for hours.
Yeah, you might want to leave those drawers messy, just based on principle. They represent the last vestiges of what freedom we have left.
Wngl: I stand corrected.
PJ: I agree that we do not have the right to do things that might harm others however what happened to common sense? I hate that we have to write laws for morons who don’t pay attention to them anyway. We can’t legislate stupidity.
Ian: Welcome, I’m glad you stopped by and introduced yourself.
Buggys: I just wish there would people to vote for who were different from who we have in office. Remember all that stuff about Change? Didn’t happen and anyone who thought it would, well, I have some swampland…
Sheila: I love your comments, they make me laugh.
Margaret: I just missed you. I think you are right and I will leave them be out of principle, and I just don’t want to deal with them. Maybe next year.
You should run for president and when you are elected have one of your aides clean those drawers!
I wasn’t correcting you, Redhead, not little old me. I think you are absolutely right that people need to use their brains. Here in Washington state we are looking at more gigantic tax hikes, thanks to a local crusader who has abused the initiative process and fooled lots of people into signing his petitions and voting through his “progressive” ideas. Too bad voters didn’t stop and look at the long term. Infrastructure gutted, revenues banked into the red, voters didn’t use their brains to think that, hey, if you gut civic and state tax structures there might be a downside when we need that money later on. Money for roads, bridges, civil services, silly stuff like that. Sad thing is that it’s the regular peeps who get saddled with sorting out the mess and they turn around and want to know why the government isn’t helping more.
You’re right that we can’t look to government for solutions. We’ve got to take the reins and take charge of the poop going down around us, starting with all parents who spank their kids.
Another pussy who lets his kids do what they want. I bet he owns his house but lets his wife or girlfriend run the place. This is exactly why America is pathetic. I spank my kids, why don’t u come do something about it wngl? I bet your one of them men that screw other men? And people wonder whats wrong with America???WOW. People that think its ok for men to screw men need sent to an insane asylum asap
I couldn’t agree more with you Jen.
P.E.R.F.E.C.T.I.O.N. Everything you said is right on.
I wish I could get a government job. They pay pretty well, and it’s hard to get fired. Either that, or I wish I could inherit a ton of money. Look, basically I hate working. I’m a pussy.
RedKathy: I like your way of thinking, wanna be my running mate?
Wngl: I was just conceding that your were correct about who the real pussies are.
Becky: Great Minds…
Katherine: T.H.A.N.K. Y.O.U.
Mike: Me too!
quite simply, I couldn’t have said it better myself. You are a very wise woman.
This is the generation of the helicopter parents’ kids. They need the government to fix it, because mommy isn’t there anymore.
No one takes responsibility, because no one has learned how.

Love this post…I hate when people think they are OWED something and are not willing to work for it!
Oh my god you’ll not belief this. Our silly kitty simply just farted on my arm!? I mean what’s the matter with that!? I care for that thing and I receive this in exchange. I even now will not really belief that. Anyway, you have a few important information there in your post. I knew Yahoo could take me to some fascinating stuff today :). O . k . should hunt this animal now! Have a nice day you all!
Yes, pussies are bad. Dumb people are just as bad. People who expect that the Govt will take care of everything for them are pussies. People who think that Pvt business can manage itself and will never resort to greedy tactics, are dumb.
I think the problem lies in absent (or pussy) fathers–who are in a state of perpetual adolescence and in women who raise their boys to be as much like women as they can possibly be and who refuse to let the boys accept any responsibility for their actions. Mommy will make it better and you will, in turn–stay mommies little guy. These boys grow into young adults who fail to drop a pair and they end up searching for new mommies in the women they marry-because a new mommy will also make excuses for them when they screw up. Young women and teenage boys can’t really learn much from this kind of a guy–but they can exploit him (because he’s a pussy who can’t set limits) and they grow up thinking that authority figures are people you try to get over on. They end up voting for whoever they feel is going to give them the most free things, because that’s what life is about–people giving you things. Good people are those who give you things you like, bad people are those who ask (or demand) that you give a little for the common good. If you’re a pussy, you don’t think you should have to give a little for the common good because your mom raised you to believe that you were very special and you deserve every delightful thing in life and your Dad turned out to be a pussy weasel who would rob his own mother if she weren’t the only one currently telling him how wonderful he is.
Did I mention that it’s possible to be a really dumb pussy?
I saw the movie “The Kids are All Right,” and I really liked it, but I kept thinking that a more honest American movie would be “The Kids are All Right..if by “All Right” you mean “growing up to be pussies.”
Great article, I agree 100%
Are you calling the richest country in the world a pussy?>
Being Sweden.
Heres America today. Every state I have been in 9 out of 10 people smart off all the time, every day. But the thing is when your ready to beat the hell out of them they take your pic with there cell phone camera and say, “if you touch me I will sue you” Thats America. This generation of young adults like to smart off and start shit but run the other way when the fight starts. Or call the police. That’s why America people 9 out of 10 are all pussies. If these kids now a days got teleported to the 70’s they would get beat up real quick and learn the guy that just kicked there ass wont be in jail. This country now a days is way to soft. Especially teach our kids its ok for men to fuck men and women to fuck women, how disgusting are ppl. Every man I see on the street holding another mans hand is an automatic ass beating they both will take. Its nice to have money to bail yourself out of jail. That’s how you stop faggots walking around. Rip there fucking heads off. Beat them back straight.
