Some of you may have noticed that I rarely have pictures on my blog. I take pictures and I even upload them to my computer however I have yet to organize them and label them with names and dates (I know, big surprise).
After two years of writing about them I thought it might be nice if you had some faces to put to the characters. I say characters because if you hadn’t noticed I haven’t named anyone but the dog before.
Without further ado I introduce to you my family:
Alex is the only non redhead in the family. Until he started dyeing it that is.
Alex and his cousins. There is a shot of the three of them just before this picture was taken where they are all hugs and smiles. I don't know who set it off, probably the middle one.
Alex on his big boy bike. This is Ex#2's bike, we had just started dating. Alex had just broken his finger for the second time while out with his dad (ex#1).
Help. My mother bought this tutu for Maddie. She did so because when I was her age my father bought one for me. I have a picture of it somewhere. My mother thought every little redheaded girl needed a pink tutu. My brother's daughters all got one too. Maddie is the only one who still wears hers. All the time.
This is Stanley, the Bassador. Dumb as a box of rocks.
Mmmmm bagel and cream cheese. She still eats this way.
Mmmm spaghetti. See. Messy Maddie. That's the Sponge Bob blankie which is just about to retire for good.
Alex and his hair. Luckily this phase has passed. But not before he learned how to dye it different colors.
Same bike, that's ex#2 on the right, ten years later and instead of dating we are divorced but he's still hanging out in my backyard for some reason.
#62 That's my baby. Tallest kid, longest hair.
Alex and his girlfriend of two years. They've been dating longer than most of my marriages.
This was back in September. We haven't had a bit of snow since then. Weird, must be global warming.
Alex, Mom and Maddie '07
I am the official picture taker in our family and there are only three pictures of me because of it. This is the only picture I have of all three of us together. The boy has cut his hair so it is just below his ears, he is now a lean mean fighting machine and probably another two inches taller. He isn’t nearly as bored as he looks here. Daughter can still wear this dress but it is a tad on the snug side and a little short to be worn in mixed company. I was trying something different with my bangs at the time of this picture.
I hope you enjoyed meeting everyone.
I can see how the red hair runs in the family, eh? 🙂
My auntie has red hair, and now my cousin’s (her son’s) new baby has hair just like her’s!! 🙂
I WANT that tutu! I NEED that tutu! Do they make those for adults? You know…so I can walk around the house in it, just like Maddie! Seriously…adoring the tutu! AND the Maddie! I want to keep her! Can I have her? Can I? Can I?
So cute, your son is so big. I pictured him smaller, don’t know why. LOL
That red and pink package of twirling curls and frills is just adorable. Your mother had the right idea to put that little darlin’ in a tutu!
Aw, thanks for sharing! You have a good-looking family. Unless you are on the petite side, your son looks insanely tall! I love having faces to go with names. I wish my DH would let me post pictures of him on my blog. I have more pictures of him than of myself, and he’s a lot more photogenic than I am!
You have a beautiful family (YOU included in that).
For some reason my Ex can often be found hanging around here weekends. Go figure.
.-= Maureen@IslandRoar´s last blog ..More Bloggy Bling =-.
Beautiful family. You are very proud I don’t doubt! The pink tutu and the red curls…..priceless.
I am also the picture taker in my family. You never see a picture of me, which I’m ok with.
Great pics and you look like you are a teenager!! Damn you!
.-= Lee the Hot Flash Queen´s last blog ..Hello, My Name is…. =-.
Love all those pictures! Thanks for sharing them with us. Have a great Wednesday!
Great pictures. Thanks for sharing them with us! Hope you have a fantastic day!
Jen, thank you for sharing your beautiful family with us. Wow, Maddie reminds me of my grand-daughter and grand-son, both have curly red hair. And, you, my dear are gorgeous!
I had to chuckle when I looked at Stanley and read your caption…..LOL!
What great pics! You have an adorable family 🙂
A Lil Enchanted,
~LaShan~
You look like Alex’s sister…..YOUNG!
How does little you keep big Alex in line….there has to be a trick to this. I had a couple of teenagers myself a long time ago. I KNOW they need corraling now and then.
Awwww, the tutu. The tutu. Sooo cute.
And teenage boys always look bored. It’s du riguer.
A lovely family.
I think I may have mentioned that the male person was a redhead. Now it’s just grey. He blames me. heh heh
Yay! Finally putting a face to your blog. And what a cutie your daughter is! Did you hear? Meredith Baxter came out!
Great pictures – thanks for sharing 🙂
C: I am sure you can find an adult tutu somewhere as for the Maddie, there are days I would love to let someone take her off my hands. I never worried about my kids being taken by strangers. I always knew if they did I just had to wait a few minutes where I last saw them and the abductor would return them when he couldn’t get a word in or a thought to himself.
Myne: He has always been a moose. Before he was born they thought he was a 10 pounder, got myself a c-section out of the deal. Always at 110% and over on the charts at the doctors office. He’s never really had a growth spurt, just constantly growing. I think he might be done now. I hope so I have had to buy his shoes online for the last three years. It’s really hard to find a size 15 in the stores.
Hilary: Yes she did and I wish I could find the picture of me at about the same age in my tutu. I was very proud of it. It’d be fun to show them side by side.
Surfie: I am average height, 5’4″, Alex is a foot taller than me. Which means when he farts he never has to smell it but I do. He thinks it is quite funny to do so.
Maureen: Thank you. My ex was just here fixing the phones. At least that is what he was supposed to do. Now I think I might have to call the phone company. It’s nice that he does things like that for me even if they don’t always work the first time. Eventually he will figure it out.
Buggys: I don’t mind not having any pictures of me, I never like the way I look in photos, but I wish I had more pictures of me and the kids together. My ex took one when I returned from the hospital when Madeline was born. I look like a cow in the picture and can’t stand to look at it. I mentioned that to him when he pulled it out last mother’s day. He actually said I looked beautiful, not fat at all ( I really, really was). This was five years divorced. Too bad he didn’t say that when we married.
Lee: The photo was taken from a distance. If you could see me close up you wouldn’t think that. But I love hearing it. Thank you.
Brandy: My pleasure. You too.
Stacie: I get to see your kids every time I stop by the blog, it was about time I shared my motley crew.
Margo: Your comment made my day, thank you. I never thought of you as a grandma. And a grandma with redheaded grandkids how cool is that? Stanley is really not a bright animal. I saw the name dogtard on another blog the other day and thought that is just what he is. He isn’t really, Reuben is the dogtard. I should have included a picture of him since he is my baby too. The ex has him since he is so big and so incredibly dumb. Sweet dog and likes to play which Stanley doesn’t. He’s sick now, cancer and arthritis, but it doesn’t seem to slow him down a bit.
LaShan: Thank you, that is very sweet.
PJ: Thanks but I don’t think we look much alike at all, old or young. He looks very much like his dad only cuter. Of course I am biased. So far he has been a breeze. He is a really great kid and I lucked out with him. He turned out great in spite of everything I did to mess him up. I am incredibly proud of the man he has become. As a boy however he ran me ragged. He never slowed down. Was always into something. One year when he was about 2 he sat on my bed after collecting about 20 ornaments off the Christmas tree. The glass ornaments. My bedroom had a bathroom off of it and he sat on the bed and lobbed them into the bathroom to hear them crash on the tile floor. He was having a ball and the pretty colors were fun to watch. There was the time he flushed a bunch of $20s down the toilet and the parmesan and romano cheese story I can’t even tell without feeling nauseous. Remind me to tell the story of going through customs at Mpls international airport in the middle of the night and how all the tired passengers wanted to kill him. Thankfully it was before 9/11.
Pricilla: They do always look bored don’t they? I can take a picture of Alex and his friends when they are having a blast and when I take it off the camera they all look like their best friend just died. I blame my kids for my grey. Specifically Maddie.
Lola: Thank you and yes I did hear. I was going to post about it on KOQ today but got held up in a meeting. At first I was like “Meh” but then when she told her reason for coming forth I thought that was a good thing. Hopefully I will be able to post something about it on KOQ but I missed AIDS Day and a whole bunch of other things I should have blogged about.
The tutu picture of Maddie is PRICELESS. Having a redhead myself, I am easily swayed by a little red headed child picture… the tutu is AWESOME… very artistic shot!
I was giving a little baby outfit with a tutu when Elizabeth was born and we had a “photo session” of those shots… who can resist a tutu! Nowadays she would much rather have boyish comfortable clothes or run around naked (ugh). BUT… she DOES like herself a Beautiful Classic Dress when the time calls for it – we got one for this Saturday’s First Confession ceremony.
Love the pix and love seeing the “characters”…. ! And NO FAIR you are gorgeous, thin and have amazing hair!
FAAABULOUS photos, Jen!
The one of Maddie eating the bagel is PRICLESS! She looks like me when I eat a bagel!
And the tutu? FLAWLESS!
You go, Maddie!
Thanks for sharing, Jen!
Oh, my goodness!
You don’t look old enough to have a son that age!
What a gorgeous family. Little Maddie is simply precious. And Alex is a great-looking kid, even with all that hair.
Thanks for sharing your family with us. I am very happy to meet you all!
you are gorgeous! And so’s the fam. I love Maddie with the tutu. My now 13 yo daughter was just like that – one of her first words was “crinoline”.
Your family is gorgeous! And I’ve always wanted red hair. 🙂
Oh, what a lovely family- I <3 the bagel pic too!
Katherine: Maddie dresses herself and I am always stunned by what she comes up with. I was a child who wore Garanimals and my mother would not let me leave the house if my clothes didn’t match…exactly. Maddie wears polka dots and stripes in clashing colors. She layers her clothes in some bizarre mixture. Tights on the outside of shorts, dress underneath t-shirts, etc. This might be another reason the teacher doesn’t care for me that much. I let her wear what she wants. If she could wear her wings to school, the ones we bought at the Renaissance Festival, she would.
Ron: Isn’t that how we all wish we could eat a bagel? Or any food for that matter. She really enjoys her food, not just the taste but the feel of it against her skin. We should all eat that way.
JD: Thank you, I love hearing that. I always thought I was an old mom when Alex was born. I was 27. I was ancient when Maddie was born, 37. At almost 44 I can’t understand the people who have kids after the age of 40 let alone 30. And that Dugger woman who has been having one every year for the past 20yrs is just insane. I would never suggest that women have kids when they are teens but if I had I would be finished with the whole thing by now.
Margo: No one ever uses that word “Crinoline” anymore. How cute that she knows what they are. I had my mother’s crinolines from when she was bopping around in those big skirts, I actually used them, when I got married, under my wedding dress.
Kristina P: it is statements like that that would make Maddie “Roar” at other guests in Target. They would walk up to her, usually women but not always, and say they wanted her hair. Maddie thought they were going to take her hair and she would start to cry the first few times it happened. After she realized that they wouldn’t actually take her hair she would just roar and put her hands up like a lion is supposed to and try to scare them off. I spent most of my time apologizing to guests at Target. It was just easier not to bring her after a while.
Dddiva: Thank you, she was a big bagel fan then, never ate the bagel but loved to lick the cream cheese off of them. Stanley would benefit because he would get the discarded bagel. It was a win-win for everyone.
Love the pictures! You have a beautiful family 🙂
We finally see them, thanks for sharing these pictures 🙂
Too cute. And, if you don’t mind me saying, your ex — or exes — are idiots. I mean that in a nice way.
Great family photos! You’re a lucky woman!
Jen, what a gorgeous family you have! Adore the redheads, (and the blond too). So adorable! You look way too young to have that big guy Alex for a son!

Your son’s super cute.
Introduce me? lol
I love reading your blog. It’s delightful.
