We have a new member of the family. This is Jack, or Boo, we aren’t really sure what we are going to call him. We will not be calling him “Hip-Hop” or Kanye like the 7 year old thinks we should. Jack or Boo is a 9 week old Flemish Giant. At 9 weeks he is already bigger than the cat and will eventually look like this
I don’t know what I was smoking when I agreed to this. He is a sweet bunny, very friendly and gentle and oh so soft you wouldn’t believe it but he poops a lot. Thankfully his poops are the size of softballs so they aren’t hard to miss.
Oh my goodness how cute! I do believe that you can potty train a rabbit – certainly one that size needs some potty training. I’m assuming he is not going t be left outside in a hutch so here’s a little tip – you can keep him out of trouble in a kiddie play pen. I had friends who were devoted to their rabbit and that’s where they kept him – they never had children – just one rabbit at a time…Oh, yeah and soft! I betcha – after all they make coats and stuff out of the little critters…More pictures!
Yes, we heard that too about the litter box. I’m hoping it’s true because it could be a problem. He can be outside and prefers colder temps. He was living in a barn before so who knows. Right now he’d get lost in all the snow.
I think a rabbit that size needs his own studio apartment.
We had a rabbit once and it died a week after we got it. It was sooo traumatizing!
Oh, I hope that doesn’t happen.
Great. Now I’m hungry.
Well, it IS the year of the rabbit. Better to have one as a pet than eat one for dinner, yes?
and if things don’t work out as a pet we have dinner.
Holy hossenfeffer, Batgirl! Where on earth are you going to keep that thing when it gets that huge? And poop the size of softballs, already? Yikes!
I think he gets the spare bedroom and his own bathroom.
My girlfriend has rabbits. Sweet, but kind of peculiar to me. They really don’t “do” anything. But yours probably will. And I know your kids love him.
I don’t think they “do” much, at least I am hoping he doesn’t. So far he sleeps a lot and then hops around and then sleeps some more. Sleeping = not pooping so I like when he sleeps.
Cute! So what do the other four-footed family members think of this?
Stanley thinks he is another puppy and is a little jealous. The cat keeps crouching down into a pouncing position but then realized he is twice her size and no match for her. The bunny is not the least bit afraid or intimidated by the animals as he sleeps all splayed out in the middle of the floor.
Everyone I know is getting bunnies lately! And the great thing is, they can be litter trained.
I hope no one in this family gets any ideas. Dogs, cats and ducks are my limit. I can’t handle any more animal poo.
He is a super, cutey. His fur looks so soft.
You have ducks! I would trade you a bunny for a duck. I have always wanted a duck but we don’t have a pond in the back yard. Ducks are way cool.
All I can say is don’t eat the little chocolate balls you start finding all over the floor – My sister had rabbits when we were growing up and I’m here to tell you there IS NO such thing as a chocolate ball fairy – Donner, Blitzen and Hermie?!
Ahahahahhahahaha @Shelia!
*Retches as she tries to scream “AUUGGHH!”*
The dog has been taking care of the chocolate balls. I know, Ewwwww!!!!!
awwwwwwwwwwwwwww. And, WTH were you thinking?
I did this to my parents with a puppy named Daisy. She was the best and smartest dog I have ever had. I deserve this. And he is really cute, especially when he cleans his face.
Kids, dogs, cats and now bunnies. The day I come over here and see a picture of a giraffe is the day I plan the intervention! 🙂
He’s very cute. And I like Jack, for what it’s worth.
We are going with “Jack”. No giraffes here and I have to say a bunny is much better than a hermit crab, even if it does poop a lot.
Oh my word! He’s gorgeous! Will he really get that big? Oh I want one!!!
According to his pedigree (yes, Jack has papers) he will get to be about 15lbs. He’s about half that right now and will be full grown at 9 months. He is really adorable and very mellow but he poops a lot.
Rabbits do poop a lot. We had a rabbit when I was small, and he left little black pellets all over the place. Still, at least they were easy to clean up.
Awwwww. I want to snuggle with him.
He likes to snuggle. He also likes to eat and poop.
Why does Jack (or Boo) look like he trying to escape out the window? What did you guys do?
He was just looking out the window. I now have pictures of him sitting, falling asleep, sleeping and waking up when the dog barks because the mailman is here. Jack doesn’t like it when the mailman comes.
I have to make sure not to look at that bunny picture while my kids are around because they will immediately want one. Oh hell. It’s me! *I* want a bunny! I want a bunny right now.
I will love him and hold him and name him George.
I really will name him George.
He is cool! If he is anything like our new gerbils Bert & Ernie, he will enjoy chewing stuff up.
Awww he’s totally delicious. And I mean that in a, “he’ll go great with some mashed potatoes” kinda way.
[…] I could have a bunny that’s going to weight more than 20 lbs. once it’s full grown. In that photo, Jack the Bunny is nine weeks old. Further, if Jack the Bunny lived with us he could have hopped into some of the vomit and shit on the floor which would mean I’d have to give that bunny a bath. […]

That’s a whole lot of rabbit and fur and poops. Hope you’ll be good to each other.
More pictures please…… especially a frontal with the buck teeth..

We have a rescue rabbit… a great free toy? Rip the cover off of an old phone book and put the book in his cage… in about a day he will start to rip it up… keeps them busy!
I just keep thinking of the white rabbit in Monty Python’s “Holy Grail”. I’d be careful if I were you.
AWWW… bunnies!
My dog would have fun with a rabbit but I am not sure it would survive the fun. It is cute!
He’s going to get that big? Yikes. I’ll bet the poop won’t be so small then. Just saying.
Have a terrific day. 🙂
Crap. He’s super cute now but will he really get THAT big? You need to bring whatever you were smoking to the conference, then we can all come home with life sized bunnies.
I had a bunny once. Not that big. She mysteriously died while I was out of town. Pretty sure Hubster left her outside to freeze or refused to feed her. It was very sad. Still leaves me afraid to leave him alone with the kids for too long.
