This is what I woke up to this morning. I’m getting really sick of snow. I know I live in Minnesota and it’s a snowy place but even we shouldn’t be getting snow in late April. The latest date I can recall it snowing in Minnesota is May 7th. I think it was 1997 because I went to a John Cougar Mellencamp concert that night and we had to walk through flurries. He was calling himself John Mellencamp by that point but he will forever be John Cougar to me.
Anyway…
Why do I live here?
It’s time to look into Barbados Holidays.
Ugh!
Well, the good news is you don’t have any flowers in your window boxes, or they’d be dead already, right?
I saw Mellencamp when he was Cougar. Excellent show, even for the nosebleed section. Isn’t he dating Meg Ryan now? Good for him. Anyone who can tolerate her lips….
No, I haven’t bothered planting anything in my window boxes yet. But look at
my tulips! They’d be blooming by now if it didn’t keep snowing. John
Cougar’s concert was one of the best concerts I have ever been too. I think
he had just had one of his heart attacks or by pass surgeries so we weren’t
expecting much but it was really great.
Meg’s lips are something. I stopped being a fan when she cheated on my man
Dennis. That was just uncalled for.
Oh, that is awful! I’m still watching the eagle nest (Decorah, Iowa) and it’s full of snow at the moment – poor babies.
Not that I’m trying to upset you, but we’ve had glorious sunshine for days, and it looks set to continue over Easter. We’ve had the best April I’ve ever known. Then again we had awful snow, virtually in Autumn, last year.
Babs you deserve a beautiful spring, you guys had a heck of a winter this
year and of course you get all that rain so enjoy. I’ll just go make a
snowman.
Ha ha ha! Yes, snowman please 🙂
We have ice pellets and freezing rain in Montreal this morning. And let me know when you are heading to Barbados, I’ll join you.
It makes me even happier to be living in the South. You can always come visit for a day at the beach. Although, I hear a cold front might be coming at the end of the week and we may go down to the 50’s. Not sure if I will survive. 🙂
TELL me about it!
We had 4″ our first year here on JUNE 10th.
That is just wrong.
WRONG, WRONG, WRONG!
Can goats go to Barbados?
I’d be happy to share some of our warmth with you. It is currently 79 degrees and mostly cloudy with the sun coming out now and then. It is just beautiful except for the pollen turning everything a dusty yellow.
North Central PA has been singularly charmless of late as well. At the moment we’re being treated to one of our twice-daily-whether-we-want-it-or-not five minute bouts of sunshine, but I can tell another thunderstorm is coming right behind it. I expect to see people wading through my yard planting rice any day now.
On top of that, it’s a cold, cold rain…and cold when it isn’t raining too. So while we don’t have the snow, we do have the cold and somewhat can relate. Like you, I also question why I live where I live (in our case: northcentral Pennsylvania…or Pennsylvania, period). After what will be going on 42 years this June, I’m beginning to wonder what keeps me here.
I must agree with you Jennifer, here in upstate NY the weather has been the same. Cold, miserable and yes snow, not to mention lots of windy days to boot. I have a feeling this will be one of those years where we miss spring altogether and go right into summer. The older I get, the more I want to move to warmer weather, bah humbug.
It’s days like these when I am absolutely THRILLED to have moved to The South from Minnesota! It sprinkled a little today and was only in the 60’s… but the water was WET, not frozen.
Y’all are welcome to c’mon down!
No snow here thank the gods. Just lots of cold rain and weather cold enough to see your breath. You have my apologies about the snow… I recommend a flame thrower. We had about a week of yummy Spring weather then I think nature said “screw you!” and it went right back to Winter.
~Gwen
PS: Goats can use flame throwers too.
It was 96 degrees in AZ for us a couple of days ago. And we almost turned the AC on last night, but decided to just suffer with the ceiling fan and the window open. See!? Each of us suffer in our own way!
LOL!
Sucks to be you!
I remember participating in a “Crop Walk” fundraiser one year… 5 inches of snow on May 6th! Slush Walk was more like it!
Yikes. And, damn. That sucks.
I can assure you that I had nothing to do with it! I’ve been up to my eyeballs with winter work down in Queensland!
I lived in North Dakota for a year so I know exactly where you’re coming from. Shudder! I can’t even imagine what it was like to be wading through snow in the middle of April!
