I can’t wait until the 2012 election is over. Now don’t get me wrong, I’ve loved all the name calling and bickering on Newsvine and have even participated in a smackdown or two, for that the election has been entertaining. And really, isn’t politics like sports now? It’s not as if either of the candidates will actually accomplish anything anymore.

I’m looking forward to the election for a lot of reasons but mostly because I never want to hear the following words and phrases again:

Double Down – This happens when you say something, usually stupid, that is incorrect. Instead of saying you made a mistake and walking it back you double down and state your misstatement with even more conviction. Think Double Dog Dare.

Walk it Back  – Just a more adult way of ‘taking it back’ and never really saying it even though it’s “out there” and can never be taken back.

Dog Whistle – Secret words and phrases that only the pundits and media know and hear. Usually proclaiming the other side is racist and usually unable to prove.

Racist – Someone who doesn’t agree with your political beliefs.

Inherited – Everything by President Obama

Surrogate – Usually B, C or D list celebrities (on the right) or A list celebrities (on the left) who go on the news shows and do all the smearing of the opposing candidate so their candidate doesn’t look so childish, repugnant or otherwise mean.

I know there are more but can’t think of any. If you have any you’d like to add to the list leave them in the comments and I’ll add them in the post with a link back.
