Ever have one of those days (or weeks) when you can’t think of anything worth writing about? I’m stuck in one of those right now. It seems everything that even resembles an idea is lame or just too much work.

My daughter found a caterpillar last week and it’s already built a cocoon but how do you get more than a sentence or two out of that? It also requires pictures and I just don’t feel like going through the hassle. Fear not, in a couple of weeks we will have a butterfly and I will post about it then.

I have been meaning to write a post about my love for all things The History Channel but it isn’t unfolding very well. I have the hook but nothing else.

I have lots of ideas but none of them are jumping out at me. Instead I have a blank page staring back at me and yet I must post something just to get the death of Rue Mclanahan off my front page.

So just for you dear readers, I am going to divulge my steps for coming up a with a post when there is nothing to write about.

1. Talk about the real world.

Everyone and their brother has talked about the oil leak. And they have all done it better than I could hope to.

2. Visit other bloggers.

What are your fellow bloggers talking about on their pages? Maybe you could borrow an idea from them.

3. Review something.

Anything. Review your dog’s new flea collar or the store brand dish washing detergent you just bought. Everyone really wants to know about those things, right?

4. Post your favorite recipe.

So what if no one is cooking right now, you could always post about your trip to Papa Murphy’s.

5. Write a list post.

When all else fails, write a post with a list in it telling your readers how do to something you can’t do.
