Fun Halloween Statistics

October 25, 2012

Halloween is less than a week away. As I write this it is snowing but next week it looks to be perfect trick or treat weather. What follows is some fun statistics about Halloween. Costumes, candy and bobbing for apples are just some of the things we do on All Hallows Eve. According to this infographic candy bars like Snickers, Hershey bars and Milky Ways are the best treat. Snickers were always the best followed by Reese’s anything else was just trade worthy. What was your favorite candy to get on Halloween?

How to Survive the Zombie Apocalypse

October 15, 2012

I’ve been thinking a lot about zombie attacks lately. Maybe because Halloween is just a couple of weeks away (seriously, when did summer end?) and because lately I have seen more and more of those stick family stickers with zombies. You know, the stickers that perky people put on their back car window to show off their family?

At least that’s how I look it at.

I tried to make one last night. There is a website where you can design your own stick family stickers. You get to choose the mom, dad, kids and pets. Problem was there wasn’t one for ex husbands and being as the first born is away at college I wasn’t sure if he should be included. It would have been confusing to include a tall male (those are the options. Parents are tall and children are short but he’s really tall so I got hung up on that) because I would have liked to explain that he is a child and not a soon to be ex husband.

They also didn’t have stickers for pets besides dogs and cats. While we have plenty of those we also have guinea pigs, a hamster and a rabbit.

I like the idea of the zombie stickers better. If I get it wrong it can just be because they ate the other one. Zombies eat zombies don’t they?

Anyway, this cracked me.

Mobile Apps for Summer Road Trips

June 25, 2012

I really just needed to get that post off the front page and update this blog. I don’t have any road trips planned this summer but if I did I am sure I would find this infographic about mobile apps for summer travel really useful.

*would someone shoot me now? This isn’t even a paid post! I just can’t think of anything interesting to write. No, I can, I just can’t seem to make the time to write it out.

Summer Reading List (Infographic)

June 8, 2012

Summer officially starts in our house this afternoon. Last night my daughter and I stopped at Half Price Books to find the book Castle in the Air by┬áDiana Wynne Jones. She also wrote Howl’s Moving Castle. Anyway, seems the second book isn’t as readily available at the used bookstores so we went to Barnes and Noble to find a copy. My daughter is hoping to read 80 books this summer, which seems like a lot.

But if she reads that many books she will be out of my hair for most of the summer!!

Castle in the Air and House of Many Ways are the only books we’ve nailed down so far but this infographic looks helpful in finding a great read. Maybe not for kids but if you’re looking for a summer book you can probably find it on this chart.

I went to school with an author on this infographic and I went to the same school as another author on this list (though he died long before I was born), can you guess which two authors I’m connected to?

Armpit Hair: For or Against or I have nothing else to write about at the moment

May 17, 2012

Mother’s Day is over, I hope everyone had a great one, and it was time to take down the post. However, I don’t really have much to put up in its place. I could tell you that I am getting close to having a real book written but since I don’t have a date I don’t want to say too much. I will say this, writing about your fucked up life is hard. Hell, writing is hard fucked up life or not. But revisiting all kinds of dark details can be very challenging. Dr. Drew would say that I had disconnected from my past (and he would be right) and that revisiting it is therapeutic.

I don’t know about that, though I do feel as if I have learned an awful lot from the process and put several issues to rest.

Anyway, spending each day in a very dark place leaves me with little to say here, at least that is humorous. So, I’ve found this interesting infographic for you to consider.

Personally, I’m all about shaving the arm pits. After going without for several months last winter because of the waxing thing I can say that I prefer to be shaved than unshaved. However, I prefer that the men leave their hair where it is. Shave the face if you have to but leave the rest.

High Heel Hazards

January 30, 2012

This is for Nicky and Linda who both live in high heeled shoes. I know they both have amazing gams and love to show off their sexy legs in these shoes. But as you can see high heels can do some damage as this infographic shows. I love heels, there isn’t anything so bad that a new pair of shoes can’t fix. For me, I’m all about comfort these days (winter) but come summer I’ll rock some short heels. For the high heels, Linda and Nicky are my heroes. You keep wearing those FMPs, I’ll live vicariously through you gals.

It's the End of the World As We Know It

January 9, 2012

Ever since Apocalypse week on the History Channel over winter break (because I had to watch every show aired), my daughter has been obsessing over the end of the world. She is convinced it will end this year, December 21st, 2012, to be precise. I’ve tried to explain to her that nuts have been predicting the end of the world since I was her age (and in fact even longer) but she is still very worried about it.

I probably made a mistake when I tried using logic to calm her mind about the end of the world. I explained that if the world did end it wouldn’t matter because we wouldn’t be here to know. She didn’t understand it, no surprise there, and only became more frightened.

Anyway, I stumbled across this infographic depicting many different theories to how the world will end. I’m not sure I will have my daughter read it but I found it amusing.
