The Heart of Christmas is a heartbreaking yet hopeful holiday film about a family faced with losing their child and their quest to give him one last Christmas celebration.

Based on a true story that gained national attention, the film tells the story of Austin and Julie Locke, who are devastated to learn that their young son Dax has been diagnosed with cancer.  With courage, determination and faith they decide to give the boy one last Christmas – even if it has to be in October!  When the community sees their decorations and learns the truth of what’s going on in their home, a truly moving outpouring of care and support occurs that people really need to see to believe. It’s a great relief to know that this kind of thing really occurs in our society today, despite all our problems.

THE HEART OF CHRISTMAS is also a tremendous Christmas film that many families will add to their favorite holiday movie collections. It teaches valuable lessons about life, faith and community and features popular singer/songwriter Matthew West, whose title song received Emmy® nomination.

October is National Pork Month

October 16, 2012

Did you know that? Well, it’s true. And to celebrate I’ve been given $50 Costco cash for one of my readers. What do you have to do to win? Share your favorite part of the video in the comments section. That’s it.

To celebrate October as National Pork Month, Costco is offering discounts on top pork cuts from chops and roasts to pork tenderloin and boneless loins. Costco members can take advantage of weekly savings ranging from $2.00-$2.50.

Between October 15 and October 21, Tenderloin is $2.50 off. Juicy and delicious, the tenderloin is your holiday entertaining hero. With its versatility and quick cook time, the tenderloin is among the most flavorful, guilt-free party food: ounce for ounce, it is as lean as a boneless, skinless chicken breast.

Pork Makes the Party:
Pork’s versatility and its ability to pair perfectly with a variety of foods and flavors makes it perfect for bringing people together this holiday season.  This holiday season celebrate pork as the catalyst that “makes” any party – join in!

Temperature News: The USDA reduced the temperature guideline for pork loins, chops and roasts from 160 to 145 degrees F, with a three minute rest. This will yield a juicy, flavorful product that may be pinker in color than most home cooks are used to. Ground pork, like all ground meat, should be cooked to 160 degrees.

Morning Latte Makes My Breakfast Better

October 9, 2012
Latte Love on RedheadRantingI am not the most active blogger anymore. I want to, I miss everyone, but I am now at the tail end of this book journey and have to focus on that. Fingers crossed the first in a trilogy will be available next month. That will give me exactly one week to putz around with my blog before it’s back to the grindstone.
Have I ever mentioned that writing a book is hard?
I really understand now why most people, people who have great stories to tell, never actually write their book. It’s a lot of work and some of it (depending on the subject matter) isn’t fun to delve back into.
Even though I am not as active in the commenting sections as I would like to be (because that is where all the fun stuff is happening) I still like to start each morning visiting by blog buddies. While I’m reading my favorite blogs I’m drinking a latte as part of The Breakfast Project.
These are my favorite blogs:
If you’d like to start your morning off with your favorite blogs and this cool mug (pictured above) leave a comment. For extra entries follow @MilkMustache on Twitter, Tweet about the giveaway, tagging @MilkMustache and #LatteLove”. And if you want to include your blog because it’s awesome and you want me to include it in my morning rounds then please leave the URL in the comment too.

Subway Catering Win a $50 Gift Card

April 17, 2012
Subway logo and slogan taken from marketing ma...

Did you know that Subway (Five, Five Dollar, Five Dollar Foot Long) does catering?

I’m pretty sure I knew this in the back of my head somewhere because years ago we had a massive party with a 3 foot sub that fed everyone with leftovers.

I know for sure that Subway does catering because they have asked me to talk about their catering on my blog and even gave me a $50 gift to try them out.

I don’t know enough people in real life to host a party with $50 worth of Subway subs (mostly because their subs are so inexpensive and feed so many) but also because I don’t get out much. However, I do have a son and he has friends and they can eat me out of house and home. Which is why I offered him up my $50 (or what was left of it after picking up some kids meals before school for the daughter who is so hard to pack a lunch for) for helping me paint my windows. If I were to have a painting party it would be almost too easy to have Subway cater it because:

  • Variety isn’t an issue – Subway offers Giant Subs, Sandwich Platters, SUBWAY to GO!™ boxed meals, drinks, sides and cookie platters.
  • Short lead time – Catering orders can be placed 24 hours in advance – in some cases less!
  • Small OR Large groups – Size of group isn’t an issue! They have options for as few as 5 people, a mid-size group of 25 people – or hundreds of people if you need it.
  • They can cover ANY Occasion – Whether you’re planning a birthday, anniversary party, sporting event, office meeting or other occasion for a meal, Subway can cover just about any type of gathering.
  • Customizable Options – Sandwiches can be customized with your favorite veggies and toppings just the way you like!
  • Great Value – Simply put – it is possible to feed groups well – without spending a lot!

There is a Subway in every neighborhood in my area and I suspect it’s the same in yours. My Subway is managed by the most awesome woman who calls me “honey”, something few people can get away with but she totally does because she rocks.

Subway has given me an extra $50 gift card to give away to one of my readers. If you would like to win it please tell me how you’d cater a party with Subway. I’ll choose a winner at random on Friday, April 20th.

Where Was This Taken?

July 30, 2010

I take a lot of photos while driving around town. Usually when stopped in traffic or walking. I have been known to take a picture or two while driving but I don’t recommend it.

I took this picture earlier this summer, I wasn’t really thinking blog at the time but I knew I had to have a picture of this. It’s been sitting on my desk top for a while now and I decided to make it into a contest.

I don’t have any prizes.

But, it’s pretty easy.

Where do you think I was when I took this picture?

(You will have to embiggen to get the full picture of what’s happening here)

Wait a minute, I do have a prize. The winner will receive a free month membership on Tribal Blogs, the coolest and funnest blog network out there.

Contests No Carbs

The Winner of the Happy Goat Soap Giveaway is…

March 5, 2010

I am sure that living in Mulletville makes it difficult to find luxurious soaps such as Happy Goat Soap, and I suspect many of the residents of Mulletville could stand to use some rich goat’s milk soap to smell just a little less mulletlike.

Congratulations Frogmama.

Thanks to everyone for entering!

I am still carb free, or at least reduced. I have had fruits and veggies but I have not had any bread, pasta, chips or any of those bad carbs. I didn’t get on the scale when I started all of this so I don’t know how much I have lost (I hate the scale and stay away from it as much as possible) however, my jeans are much looser and so is my bra, which kinda bothers me.

I’m going to continue this low carb thing into next week. I’d like to say I have made it a way of life but I know if I do I will have to have a pretzel from Aunt Annies so I’m taking it week by week.

Thanks to everyone for all the support it really does make a huge difference to have it.
